As part of my ongoing series of podcasts for SRI International, I produced a progam featuring Pablo Garcia who discussed the MISTRAL (Multidisciplinary Initiative for Surgical Technology Research Advanced Laboratory) Collaborative, a program to accelerate the innovation of medical devices and bring them to market faster.
The program was recently awarded a $1M grant by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support its work to commercialize innovative medical devices for pediatric care.
Why is there an important need for medical devices to be developed specifically for pediatric use? How will the new products be developed and brought to market? What are the challenges faced by engineers and clinicians as they develop new medical devices? The podcast answers these questions and more.
